After two dismal performances, the Blackhawks pulled off a moral victory Wednesday night against the Sharks.

An actual win would have been preferred and quite a bit more beneficial to the standings, but the Hawks couldn't get it as they weren't able to solve goaltender Antti Niemi in a 1-0 defeat to the Sharks at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Looking more like the team that had won four consecutive games prior to getting thrashed last weekend in Calgary and Edmonton, the Hawks played smart, sound, defensive hockey but in the end came away with no points in falling for the third time in a row. Still, the Hawks' dressing room afterward was full of positive thoughts after the team rebounded from the way it had played against the Flames and Oilers in getting outscored by a combined 10 goals.
