The NHL has informed the Chicago Blackhawks that they can put Marian Hossa on long-term injured reserve, according to The Athletic’s Scott Powers.

Hossa is unlikely to play another game after developing a skin allergy.

The 38-year-old has four years remaining on a contract that carries a $5.275-million cap hit, and by putting him on LTIR the cap-strapped Blackhawks can wiggle out some extra space to build their roster.
