Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is ready to make a £6million move for Blackburn Rovers goal machine Jordan Rhodes as he looks to beat the drop.

Pulis will have funds for a top striker and sent a close aide to watch the Rovers record buy in action at the weekend.

Rhodes cost Blackburn £8million when he signed 15 months ago and is still their best bet for the financial salvation of promotion.

Owners Venkys and boss Gary Bowyer rebuffed moves by Wigan and Bolton in the summer and do not plan to sell Rhodes.

But Eagles chief Pulis has been promised a kitty and is looking for players who can help him in the Premier League but also lead a promotion charge next season.

Pulis agreed his deal at Palace before the win at Hull City and also quickly dispatched a spy to see Rhodes against Reading.
