Attendance at the Blue Jays’ second home game of the season dropped off by nearly 50 per cent from Tuesday’s sold-out season opener.

The announced crowd of 24,619 at Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Indians was even down from last season’s second home game, which drew 26,351, albeit against the more-popular Boston Red Sox.

The second-night slouch was expected after Tuesday’s impressive opening-day draw 48,857, but the Jays had still hoped to see numbers north of 30,000 for the rest of the Cleveland series.
