"Bernard Berrian finally got on the same page with Brett Favre, but the wide receiver's best game came in a season-ending loss.
Berrian caught nine passes for a season-high 102 yards Sunday night in a 31-28 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome.
Berrian's season was hampered by two separate hamstring injuries. He finished fourth on the team in catches and third in receiving yards. But he was Favre's favorite target Sunday night. "I think we've been looking for that all year," Berrian said. "You have to make your opportunities count."
Berrian has now had two of his best games as a Viking at the Superdome. He caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown in a victory in New Orleans in October 2008.
Uncertain on future
Vikings nose Pat Williams told KFAN Radio after the game that it is "50-50" whether he returns for his 14th season. Williams has one year remaining on his contract.
Williams said recently that he would retire if the Vikings won the Super Bowl. Williams was among the injured players heading into the game, but it turned out the Vikings were not shorthanded.
The team listed five players as questionable on the injury report, but none of them missed the game. Three of the Vikings' four starting defensive linemen -- Kevin Williams, Pat Williams and Ray Edwards -- started after being listed as questionable. Both Edwards and Kevin Williams missed two practice days because of knee injuries. Pat Williams had elbow and foot injuries.
Edwards, who suffered a sprained right knee, wore a large brace on his knee during the game. Jayme Mitchell was active for only his fifth game of the season in order to give the Vikings more depth on the line.
Griffin injured in OT
The Vikings suffered a significant injury on the opening kickoff of overtime when cornerback Cedric Griffin appeared to hurt his knee while trying to make a tackle on Saints return man Pierre Thomas."
