"Running back Cedric Benson pleaded no contest Monday in Austin, Texas, to assault in a 2010 incident involving an employee in an Austin bar. For the plea, Benson was sentenced to 20 days in jail.
It was one of two cases Benson resolved in Austin on Monday.
Benson will return to Austin and turn himself in on Oct. 17, which is the day after the Indianapolis game at Paul Brown Stadium and the start of the bye week. Assistant Travis County Prosecuting Attorney Corby Holcomb told The Austin American-Statesman that with credit for good behavior, Benson would serve about a week in jail.
If the normal schedule applies, Benson would only miss one or two practices and should be back in Cincinnati by Oct. 26, which would be the first major practice in preparation for the Oct. 30 game at Seattle."
