"With 54 yards on Saturday against Arizona, Cedric Benson can become the third player in team history to rush for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons.
"It means a lot to me. Considering the things I've gone through this year with the Players Association and some of the situations I had early in the season, missing a game and things like that," Benson said. "I'm excited about it and I'm very eager to get it. I'm thankful to have the team, the offensive line the way the guys have blocked. I'm just proud of myself for overcoming a lot of things and staying strong."
In 13 games, Benson has 959 yards on 244 carries, good for seventh in the AFC, and has three 100-yard games. He missed one game due to a suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
The last Bengals back to rush for 1,000 in three straight years was Rudi Johnson, who had 4,221 yards in that span. Benson has 3,321 over his three seasons.
Benson's best game of the season was the opener at Cleveland, when he had 121 yards on 25 carries, including a 39-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter that sealed the win."
