Leon Hall who is the Bengals top defensive back is likely lost for the season after suffering an Achilles injury during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions.

Hall was covering a pass intended for Calvin Johnson in the end zone when he clutched his right foot and had a hard time getting up. Hall was down for a minute before being getting some help walking to the sideline. He was in tears on the bench before being taken to the locker room.

It is the second time in less than two years that Hall has suffered an Achilles injury. He tore the left one during a Week 10 loss to Pittsburgh in 2011.

It usually takes nearly a year to come back from that type of injury but Hall was on the field participating eight months later in the first practice of training camp.

Hall is in this seventh year and has been the Bengals best cornerback. He led the team with six passes defensed and had an interception in five games missing two due to a hamstring strained. Hall was the team’s co-MVP in 2009 when the team won the AFC North.
