"Andy Reid can't go deep.
The Eagles coach can't return punts either.
This isn't knocking Reid. Most people in the Milky Way can't go deep against an NFL defense.
Actually, few players in the NFL can do what DeSean Jackson does. He is an all-world playmaker in this league of stars. You might not like him as a person, but there is everything to like about him as a player.
And the name of the game is to win.
Of course, Reid has proven he knows how to do that. However, on Sunday, he chose not to win. And, in doing so, he could've lost more than this season.
Big Red might lose his job.
By benching Jackson, Reid chose to send a message instead of winning a football game.
Reid went total disciplinarian in a league in which the only discipline needed is for three hours on Sunday afternoons.
Now going macho is fine, even in the NFL, if a coach is building a program. But Reid has been at this in Philadelphia for 13 seasons. He is coming off two years with first-round playoff exits, and he's in the middle of a season on life support.
Sunday wasn't the time for this.
Reid needed to be beating Arizona, not losing 21-17 and crashing to a 3-6 record. Sitting Jackson wasn't the way to go. It sounds good, but what good came out of it? Suddenly, Jackson is going to be more disciplined and be prompt for meetings?"
