"Ben Wallace and the Detroit Pistons this morning agreed to a two-year contract that will pay the veteran center a little more than $1.9 million per season.
Wallace said before the end of last season that he wanted to rest his body and see how he felt after the season. As the summer went on, it was evident that Joe Dumars, president of basketball operations, wanted Wallace back. Wallace also wanted to stay with the team where he enjoyed his greatest success.
He'll also be a big help to rookie big man Greg Monroe.
Wallace, 35, appeared in 69 games last season, starting 67.
He averaged 5.5 points, a team-high 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and a team-leading 1.2 blocks in 28.6 minutes per game. The 14-year NBA veteran became the 17th player in NBA history to record 2,000 career blocked shots Feb. 2 at New Jersey."
