Adrian Beltre didn't have the look of someone who should be running, let alone playing in a major-league game, as he circled the bases Monday night at Camden Yards.

He had warned that he would be limping intentionally, but he looked like he needed a pair of crutches.

But it was, indeed, all by design, and Beltre would have been the Texas Rangers' starting third baseman had the weather been more favorable Tuesday.

Manager Ron Washington delivered the most important news: Beltre felt fine after his first game in a week.
