After testing his sore left knee and an achy left hamstring with a series of workouts and runs and stretches in right field during batting practice, Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran has been cleared to start Game 5 of the National League championship series.

He'll bat second and start in right field.

"Good to go," Beltran said. "I still feel it, but it's not like it was yesterday or the day before."

Added general manager John Mozeliak: "We never saw anything structurally wrong, so the discussion was always about how much he could do with the discomfort that he was feeling. He went out there and had running test, and he went through all of it and felt capable of contributing. So, he's in the lineup"
