Right fielder Carlos Beltran left Sunday's game after sliding heavily on his left knee during the Nationals' two-run seventh inning.
Beltran made an extended run from right-center field after shortstop Ian Desmond's foul pop before landing on the gravel warning track. He rose slowly and labored to the Cardinals' third-base dugout at the end of the inning.
Beltran left the lineup as part of a double switch, but according to manager Mike Matheny, he would have been forced from the game even without a pitching change.
