After declining to speak with media after his past two starts and again after he was put on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation, Josh Beckett broke the silence Tuesday.

Beckett said that he had an MRI on Monday and that "everything looks pretty good." He was scratched from his last scheduled start on Sunday against Chicago due to the injury. His replacement, Franklin Morales, struck out a career-high nine in five innings in a 7-4 Sox win.

He had dealt with similar pain before, and planned to tough it out through two more starts and possibly miss the last one before the All-Star Break. But with his strength becoming increasingly limited, Beckett was overruled.
