David Flitcroft is in a fight to keep his job – after just 36 games as Barnsley manager.

Flitcroft heads into crunch talks with his Oakwell bosses today following Saturday’s humiliating 5-1 home defeat by Watford.

The meeting was scheduled a week ago to discuss the loan transfer window but has now turned into a crisis conference after their sixth defeat in eight league games. The Tykes have shipped an alarming 22 goals during that horror run which has sent them tumbling to second bottom in the Championship table.

Flitcroft 39 will be grilled on how he intends to put things right and insisted: ”We are not in denial at this football club.

“We have got to do something about it and hopefully I’ll get the chance to do it. I want to design a good team here that wins matches.”
