Andrea Bargnani answered his critics and led Italy to its first win of the 2011 EuroBasket on Friday, setting a new personal scoring high while wearing the Italian colours.

Bargnani, who let Germany's Chris Kaman go off for 17 points and 17 rebounds while missing most of his shots in a loss on Thursday, scored 36 points, added four blocks and seven rebounds as Italy moved to 1-2 with a 71-62 win over Latvia. Italy rallied for the win behind Bargnani, who started for the first time in the tournament.

While Bargnani starred, his future Raptors frontcourt teammate Jonas Valanciunas did not get off the bench for host Lithuania in a thrilling 75-68 win over Turkey.
