La Liga giants Barcelona are hoping that Chelsea center back David Luiz will ask for a transfer away from Stamford Bridge in order to join the Blaugrana sometime soon according to a report in the Independent. The Spanish club had made a bid for the defender earlier in the week only to see the bid rejected while Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho declared that the 26-year-old was not for sale.

The Brazilian international has become a target for the Spanish giants who have been looking to bolster their center defense this summer having already been linked to Luiz Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen PSG’s Thiago Silva and Liverpool’s new vice-captain Daniel Agger having been rebuffed in attempts for all four. However the Spanish club are holding out hope that Mourinho’s comments about the defender were just to increase the value of the offer despite the hands off warning from the Portuguese boss according to the Independent report.
