"While Roy Williams drew applause with every catch in his Bears practice debut Thursday night, another ex-Cowboy stole the show.

During inside running drills, Marion Barber barreled through a pile of defenders that included fellow newcomer Vernon Gholston, then kept running and slapped away rookie safety Winston Venable.

Barber nodded his head as if to tell the defense to bring some more. Coach Lovie Smith chuckled as Barber displayed his power.

Smith said Barber's attacking style set the tone for the night. Defensive end Julius Peppers agreed.

"I was impressed with him before what I saw tonight," Peppers said of Barber. "I'm happy to have him instead of trying to bring him down.""
