"Third baseman David Wright took part in some limited baseball activities before Sunday's game, playing catch and then taking ground balls while on his knees.

"It's the same program we've been going through all along," said Wright, who has been sidelined since mid-May with a stress fracture in his lower back. "So far we're par for the course."

Wright will ride the stationary bike today and do similar activities on Tuesday as he prepares for a doctor's examination Friday. If all goes well that day, he could be cleared to resume full baseball activities and perhaps be scheduled for a rehab stint in the minor leagues.

Wright is trying to be patient, which isn't easy for someone who wants to play as much as he does.

"I just have to wait it out and make sure the bone heals correctly before I start amping it up," he said."
