"The Avalanche has re-signed forward David Jones to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Jones scored 27 goals with 18 assists in 77 games last season. He has played four seasons with Colorado.

"He was one of our top offensive players a year ago and is part of the young nucleus of this team," general manager Greg Sherman said in a statement."
