Our online story from Tuesday’s morning skate at Rexall Place looks at Avalanche coach Patrick Roy going with Jean-Sebastien Giguere against the Oilers and the status of injured forwards P.A. Parenteau and Cody McLeod. You don’t have to click there to know Roy is using the same lineup from Sunday’s 3-2 OT loss against Pittsburgh, but Parenteau skated with the boys and is close. McLeod did not skate but is also on the trip.

Don’t want to beat the David Backes-Nathan MacKinnon incident into the ground but it’s a hot topic here in hockey-crazed Canada, and we haven’t had much “quality” time with the Avs since Backes attacked the 18-year-old superstar rookie late in Saturday’s 4-0 win against the Blues in St. Louis. There was no morning skate Sunday before the Pittsburgh game in Denver and the Avs didn’t practice Monday before flying here.
