"Greg Sherman admits it: The offers have been, if not pouring in, coming regularly for the No. 2 pick the Avalanche holds in next Friday's NHL draft.
What would it take for the Avalanche general manager to part with the pick?
"It would have to be something paramount. But I'm not looking to move the pick," Sherman said after the NHL's most recent general managers' meetings in Boston. "There has been interest in the pick. Given the plan that we're on right now, it's not something we're looking to (trade)."
The plan for the Avs appears to continue to try to rebuild from within, with the draft a major part of the plan. Colorado owns the second and 11th picks in the first round of the draft June 24 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.
"We have a young, enthusiastic team, and these first-round picks fit right into that," Sherman said. "We have a lot of good things going on here and these picks will add to that.""
