Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda left the game against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday after injuring his knee in the first period and did not return.

Hejda lost his balance and crashed into the corner boards in Colorado's zone after he got tangled up with Edmonton’s Mark Arcobello in a puck pursuit. Hejda clutched his knee and was helped off the ice, with one arm draped around Colorado trainer Matt Sokolowski and the other around fellow defenseman Nate Guenin.
