How was Austin Jackson feeling today?

Good enough to start a rehab stint Monday with Triple-A Toledo, the Detroit Tigers announced.

Jackson ran bases the past three days but didn’t do any pregame work on Sunday because of photo day at Comerica Park.

Manager Jim Leyland said that if Jackson felt good today, he would start his rehab tomorrow in Rochester.

"If he comes in today and is OK today, it looks like he’s going to go out tomorrow," Leyland said.

He would play Monday and Tuesday, get an off-day on Wednesday – "Which will be good for him," Leyland said -- play with the Mud Hens on Thursday and could return to the Tigers for their weekend series at Minnesota beginning Friday.

"If all systems are go, then it’s a possibility," Leyland said. "And I stress ‘possibility.’

Head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said on Saturday that today would be an evaluation day for Jackson, who has been sidelined since May 11.

The 26-year-old is hitting .272 with 33 runs scored in 34 games this season.
