Tigers centerfielder Austin Jackson's spectacular catch in the sixth inning Thursday night robbed Indians catcher Carlos Santana of a hit and helped Justin Verlander to the 100th victory of his career.

And it overshadowed the defensive play by rightfielder Magglio Ordoñez that manager Jim Leyland called the "biggest play of the game" before Friday night's game against the Orioles.

After Lonnie Chisenhall led off with a single, Lou Marson hit a liner that second baseman Carlos Guillen appeared ready to catch.

But Chisenhall couldn't start to second until he saw the ball get through, and Ordoñez forced Chisenhall at second.

"I'm surprised nobody asked about it because that was the biggest play of the game," Leyland said.
