"Closer Andrew Bailey was unavailable Monday against the Angels after being struck in the left temple by a line drive during batting practice.

Bailey was standing in left field and fell to the ground immediately after being hit by the liner off the bat of Kurt Suzuki.

A large group of teammates and coaches gathered around Bailey, and after a few minutes on the ground, he left the field under his own power accompanied by head trainer Nick Paparesta.

Bailey said everything "went black for a second," but it could have been much worse. The sunglasses he was wearing absorbed some of the impact.
