Arsenal's hopes of taking Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic to the Emirates Stadium appear to be hanging by a thread, with the Montenegrin forward edging towards a move to Inter Milan.

And in a double blow for English clubs, Fredy Guarin, heavily linked with Chelsea and touted as a potential Manchester United signing, is set to head in the opposite direction.

In a sensational swap, Juventus will allow Vucinic - down the pecking order following the signings of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez - to leave Turin.

And in doing so, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they'll hand over €1.5million to the Nerazzurri to add Colombian international Guarin to their wealth of midfield options.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had been keen on taking Vucinic, 30, to the Emirates Stadium on loan until the end of the season. Gunners officials even held talks with Vucinic's agent Alessandro Lucci last Friday.
