Reports in Portugal confirm Arsenal's interest in the player but suggest the Gunners are yet to make a bid for the midfielder.

Speaking to O Jogo Bernard's father Delio Duarte said: "Nothing is decided yet but we know there is interest from Arsenal. However there has been nothing official from them."

And it may now be the case that Porto is the 20-year-old's preferred option.

Duarte added: "Hulk has convinced Bernard that Porto would be better for him at this stage of his career."

Arsenal were thought to be the frontrunners for Bernard's signature after the player begrudgingly accepted he may leave Atletico Mineiro but the north London club have been told that they would have to cough up £22m to sign the player.
