Alex Rodriguez is one step closer to taking the field, but exactly how many steps separate him from where he is now and the batter's box is the question.

A-Rod arrived at the Yankees' spring training complex at 10:33 a.m. on Monday, rolling up in a black Cadillac Escalade and accompanied by a female companion and a driver. Rodriguez's driver spoke to the security guard and then drove around to the back entrance, out of the view of reporters and photographers gathered outside the entrance.

Rodriguez, who is recovering from left hip surgery, joined the ranks of the injured Bombers on Monday; last week he got the OK to resume baseball activities, but what that means for his workout regimine today is unclear. Curtis Granderson arrived in Tampa around 8 a.m. and will play in an extended spring training game later on Monday. Francisco Cervelli, Kevin Youkilis, Mark Teixeira, Ivan Nova and Michael Pineda are also working out in Tampa. Derek Jeter was not spotted at the facility Monday morning.
