Still with a few minimum contracts to hand out, the New York Knicks are exploring all options to land additional frontcourt depth and another point guard to their 2013-14 roster.

One interesting name that they recently had in for a workout was former first-round pick Austin Daye.

Daye became an unrestricted free agent when the Memphis Grizzlies declined to make him a qualifying offer last month, and he tells Shams Charania of that he’s been in talks with several teams.

Daye also said that he hasn’t worked out for any teams, but Jared Zwerling of reported yesterday that he’d worked out for the Knicks.

He hasn’t made much of an impact in the NBA since being drafted No. 15 in 2009, and now he wants the opportunity to play significant minutes to contribute. Daye averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds last season for the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons.
