"Jerry Dipoto will be the Los Angeles Angels' new general manager, and an official announcement is expected after the World Series, FOXSports.com has learned.
Dipoto, a former relief pitcher in the major leagues, had most recently served as the Arizona Diamondbacks' senior vice president of scouting and player development.
Before that he got front-office experience with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox.
Dipoto also had been a leading candidate for the Orioles' GM vacancy, sources said. The Angels were expected to conduct a lengthy interview process, but apparently made a more rapid decision to ensure that they got their man.
The Angels' job will not be Dipoto's first as a general manager. He served briefly as the Diamondbacks' interim GM in 2010, making two highly regarded trades before the July 31 non-waiver deadline."
