"Instead of receiving a gift, it was Andruw Jones who gave a present to his 24 White Sox teammates on his birthday.

Jones socked a pair of home runs, including the game-winner with two outs and a 3-and-2 count in the ninth inning, and the entire team was able to celebrate for only the second time in the last eight games.

"We were desperate for a win," manager Ozzie Guillen said after the 7-6 victory over the Mariners at U.S. Cellular Field.

"It just felt good to win, period," said Jones, who also started the Sox scoring with a solo home run in the first inning.

In between Jones homers, it was a wild, back-and-forth night with starter Gavin Floyd denied a victory when reliever J.J. Putz handed the Mariners a lead on a seventh-inning grand slam home run."
