"Now that it has become apparent this will be one of the strangest and most unpredictable Trail Blazers seasons in history, it only seemed fitting Saturday that the team turned in a performance for the ages.

Behind a near-record 52 points from Andre Miller, the Blazers hung on to beat Dallas 114-112 in overtime at American Airlines Center, sweeping the Mavericks in Dallas for the first time in 11 years and breathing life back into what looked like a withering season.

Miller, who hit a franchise-record 22 field goals in 31 attempts, looked up from his locker as if nothing special had happened.

"I'm just glad we won," he said.

Miller has never been one to show much emotion, and he managed a hint of a smile here and there, but left most of the celebrating to his teammates, who were happy to oblige.

"That was the most amazing thing I have ever seen," LaMarcus Aldridge bellowed afterward in his baritone. "Fifty-two points? And the thing is, he was trying to pass all the time."

It was indeed an incredible performance, which came at a surprising but much needed time. Miller was in a big-time slump in his last three games, during which he was 4 for 25 from the field, including a two-point performance one night earlier in Houston.

"Coming off that last road trip was tough. I was worn down," Miller said.

He said he had so many aches and pains over the past week that he had fitful nights sleeping. But when he arrived at the arena Saturday night, Miller delivered a message to Aldridge. He told him his body finally felt right."
