The entire Raptors organization was pleased to acquire Kyle Lowry, but scout Alvin Williams might have had the widest grin when the deal with Houston was completed.

Lowry, like Williams, is a Philadelphia native and a Villanova product. The two have been close for years.

Not surprisingly, Williams, one of the most popular Raptors ever, due to his hard-nosed play, solid defence and clutch shot-making, believes Lowry was a great get.

"To have a competitor like that, especially someone I'm there and close with is a good addition," Williams told the Sun on Thursday.

"He's going to bring toughness, he's a competitor. He has goals for himself to be the best, he's one of those guys that really doesn't talk about being the best, he goes out and tries to really put the work in. He brings that edge."
