"The American League and National League All-Star teams will be announced Sunday, but Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko won't be on the edge of his seat awaiting the results.

The All-Star game will be played July 12 at Phoenix's Chase Field -- about 40 minutes from Konerko's North Scottsdale residence. Being named to the AL team would put a nice touch on an exceptional first half for Konerko, who already has intentions of heading to his home for the All-Star break.

"I think with every player, you try to treat it the same every year," said Konerko, who ranks in the top five in the AL with a .318 batting average, 21 home runs and 62 RBIs. "If you go, it's a great thing. It's fun, it's a memory."
