The Yankees were without one of their best hitters during Saturday’s 6-2 win over the Royals as left fielder Brett Gardner sat because of lower abdominal tightness. Gardner said after Saturday’s game that he wasn’t feeling right Friday and it was similar to what he felt in Cleveland back in July. He missed just one game during that series, and the abdominal hasn’t been an issue since.

“It’s something I feel if I push it, it’s gonna make it worse,” Gardner said. “I don’t feel like I’m close to 100%, so hopefully I’ll come in feeling better (Sunday.) I don’t have any tests scheduled or anything. Just got some treatment today and that’s it.”
