GM Brian Cashman said Alex Rodriguez is scheduled to move his rehab from Miami to New York on Friday. According to Cashman, A-Rod won’t be making any appearances in Tampa during spring training as he rehabs his surgically repaired hip.
As for MLB’s investigation into A-Rod’s involvement with Anthony Bosch and Biogenesis, Cashman said he was unaware of the current status.
“You’re asking the wrong person,” Cashman said. “I can’t speak for the Commissioner’s Office, so I couldn’t tell you. I don’t know where they’re at in their investigation.”
PHELPS JUMPS ON IT
While the rest of the starters are working through their first bullpen sessions of the spring, David Phelps threw 30 pitches of live batting practice on Thursday.
Phelps, who is battling Ivan Nova for the No. 5 starter job, has been throwing for weeks in preparation for what is surely the biggest spring training of his young career.
Phelps threw four or five bullpens before reporting to camp, hoping to improve on a rookie season that saw him go 4-4 with a 3.34 ERA in 33 games.
