"Jordan Hill only came away with a bruised ego following his spirited one-on-one with Al Harrington following Thursday's practice. Harrington, though, got the worst of it; he bruised his knee.
Harrington, who arrived for training camp in the best shape of his 11-year career, was held out of Friday night's preseason 93-89 victory over the Nets at the Garden after injuring his left knee as he schooled Hill, the Knicks' first-round pick.
David Lee led the Knicks with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Danilo Gallinari scored 10 points off the bench on 3-for-8 shooting. He's now shooting 7-for-27 in four games.
"He wanted to play tonight, but we've got a game Sunday, then Tuesday, Wednesday, so why risk it," Mike D'Antoni said of Harrington. "I think he was playing with Jordan Hill after practice and he bumped it."
There is a possibility Harrington will be available for tomorrow's game at the Garden against Maccabi Tel Aviv. Friday night, the starting front line consisted of Wilson Chandler, Jared Jeffries and Lee, with Chris Duhon and Nate Robinson starting in the backcourt.
If the Knicks are to be a playoff team, they will need Harrington playing at a high level. He is their most accomplished scorer, having averaged a career-high 20.1 points in 68 games with the Knicks and five with the Warriors last season. He will become a free agent next summer and is hoping against hope the Knicks would consider signing him to an extension."
