"Rasheed Wallace's agent confirmed last night that the Celtics center is on the verge of ending his NBA career after 15 seasons.
"I think it's leaning that way," Bill Strickland said. "I haven't seen any paperwork yet, but that's the way he's leaning."
Wallace appears to have finalized his thoughts during the past two days. Strickland said Tuesday he had yet to hear anything about retirement from the 35-year-old big man.
"He just feels he's tired," Strickland said. "He's had quite a career, and I think now he's ready to move on.
"His family is very important to him, and he has those considerations. The same things that are tearing at Doc (Rivers) are tearing at Rasheed."
Strickland declined to say whether Wallace has negotiated a buyout with the Celtics from the final two years on his contract. Wallace was set to make $6.3 million next season and $6.8 million in 2011-12."
