"After finally making a statement on the field for the first time this season with two interceptions, Kerry Rhodes delivered a brief verbal statement to reporters before bolting out of the locker room Sunday.
It was that kind of day for Rhodes, the demoted safety who needed very little time on and off the field to get his point across to his critics.
"Coach (Rex Ryan) tried to send a message to me, I got the message, the message was sent," said Rhodes, who had the first multi-interception game of his five-year career. "So, now I am moving on. You are going to see Kerry Rhodes, so that is all I've got to say.
"That's all it takes. You saw Kerry today and that is what you will see."
Despite playing just a handful of snaps at safety in dime packages, Rhodes snapped a 12-game interception drought with two picks of Jake Delhomme. Darrelle Revis, who appears to be a lock for his second Pro Bowl, also had two interceptions, returning one 62 yards for the Jets' first touchdown after Delhomme's pass took a fluky bounce off Steve Smith's leg and straight into Revis' hands with 8:48 remaining in the first quarter.
"It was the easiest one," Revis said when ranking this interception among his 12 career picks.
Rhodes' interceptions were probably two of the easiest picks he will ever have as well, as Delhomme tossed up lollipops all day. Still, it was redemption for the safety, who was replaced - by Eric Smith - in the starting lineup for the first time in his career after making 74 consecutive starts."
