After 19 games, Kings' Evans ready to play again

"Scrimmaging fullcourt is a privilege for Tyreke Evans these days.

The second-year guard has missed the Kings' past 19 games because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. After three weeks of shock-wave treatment, the foot is no longer bothering him.

Evans was brought along slowly, beginning with drills before being allowed to play 2-on-2.

Now that Evans has scrimmaged – he did so in Thursday's practice – he'll begin to play in games.

Evans will return to action tonight against the host Indiana Pacers, coming off the bench for the first time in his professional career as he works his way back into form.

It's the first step in the Kings, who went 5-14 without Evans, figuring out how to use him with Beno Udrih and recently acquired guard Marcus Thornton.

Evans, who hasn't played in a game since Feb. 13, said after Thursday's practice that he is "just trying to get my legs back."

"It tough trying to get into the flow," Evans said. "Remembering the plays, things like that. Just trying to get back to normal."

Evans led the Kings with averages of 18.3 points and 5.5 assists when he was sidelined. As the Rookie of the Year last season, he averaged 20.1 points and 5.8 assists."
