Adrian Beltre wanted to stay in the game after taking a Vicente Padilla 92 mph fastball off his helmet, but the Rangers pulled him out. He passed an initial examination and will continue to be evaluated.

Beltre was hit in the head in the eighth inning on an 0-2 pitch, and doesn't believe it was intentional by Padilla.

"I don't think he was trying to hit me," Beltre said. "I don't think in that situation, 1-1 eighth inning, runner at thid. ... It got away from him."

Beltre said the ball hit him on the back side of the helmet.

"I got hit pretty good, but I don't think there are any symptoms of a concussion," he said. "It's a bruise but not as bad as it looked.
