Adrian Beltre could return to the lineup as early as today.

The Texas Rangers third baseman has not played since leaving the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Detroit. He pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, but was confident it wasn't as serious as the one that sidelined him for more than a month last year.

Beltre had an MRI exam on Monday that revealed the injury wasn't directly related to the hamstring area. The Rangers said Beltre had mild inflammation in the hamstring area, but the MRI results were "normal."

"It's not the hamstring, and that's good news," manager Ron Washington said.

Asked when he could return to the lineup, Beltre said: "Soon."
