Former University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino denied that he knew anything of the recruiting scandal which rocked the NCAA and resulted in a FBI investigation that led to his dismissal. Pitino even sued Adidas in October, claiming that the major sportswear organization damaged his reputation by “outrageous conduct in conspiring to funnel money to the family of a college basketball recruit.”

However, Adidas is telling a different story, according to Jason Riley of WDRB. According to evidence cited by Adidas, Pitino was asked to call an Adidas executive to get more funding for a recruit and ended up doing so three times before the recruit committed to Louisville. Adidas says that allegations suggest “that he was both aware of and supported the scheme.”
