Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase said Wednesday he expects Ryan Tannehill to be the team's starting quarterback for the 2018 NFL season.

Adam Beasley‏ of the Miami Herald passed along the update from Gase after Tannehill missed the entire 2017 campaign with a torn ACL, which led the front office to sign Jay Cutler to fill the void.

The 29-year-old Texas A&M product suffered the knee injury during a practice in early August.

He was coming off a solid 2016 season in which he completed a career-best 67.1 percent of his passes for 2,995 yards with 19 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions across 13 games. His 93.5 passer rating also set a new career high.
