Ryan Braun's right Achilles' tendon soreness was a bit better Friday but not enough for the Brewers star leftfielder to start in the series opener against the San Francisco Giants.

"We're going to try to give him another day," said manager Ron Roenicke. "He's going to run around and do some things to see if he's able to pinch hit."

Asked if Braun might play Saturday, Roenicke said, "I don't know. We'll see."

Braun exited the game Wednesday in San Diego in the sixth inning after limping out of the box on a fly-out to left. The Brewers were off Thursday but the day of rest was not enough to calm down the Achilles' enough to play.

In a reshuffled batting order, Rickie Weeks moved from leadoff to the No. 2 spot but Roenicke said that wasn't merely because Braun was missing.

"I may leave Rickie there for a little while," said Roenicke. "I talked to Rickie today and we're going to try to do some things to get the offense going a little bit."

Weeks had struggled mightily in the leadoff spot, batting .172 with a .306 OBP. Roenicke recently said he didn't think Weeks would fit well in the two-hole but changed his mind.
