The Chicago White Sox are holding a mini hitting camp for select young players at their spring training facility at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., this week.

Jose Abreu, Matt Davidson, Adam Eaton, Josh Phegley, Marcus Semien, Courtney Hawkins, Jared Mitchell, Trayce Thompson and Keenyn Walker were among the players slated to attend the private camp that runs Jan. 14-16.

Sox manager Robin Ventura and new hitting coach Todd Steverson will both be at the camp.

In other Sox news, the team announced that it had reached a minor-league agreement with right-handed pitcher Brian Omogrosso. He pitched in 12 games for the White Sox in 2013 and 10 for Triple-A Charlotte before season-ending elbow surgery in August.

The team also signed right-handed pitcher Dylan Axelrod to a minor-league contract last week. Axelrod was not tendered a contract at the Dec. 2 deadline. He was 4-11 with a 5.68 ERA in 30 appearances, including 20 starts, in 2013.
