"The Indianapolis Colts have ruled eight players out of Sunday's preseason opener with the San Francisco 49ers in Lucas Oil Stadium, and there might be more.

Coach Jim Caldwell said the chances of safety Bob Sanders playing "are slim.'' It's also possible defensive end Dwight Freeney and receiver Anthony Gonzalez will be held out of the game. Sanders participated in this morning's light workout at Anderson University, but Freeney and Gonzalez were among several players who did not.

The list of players who will not play consists of tight end Dallas Clark, defensive tackle Keyunta Dawson, wide receiver Pierre Garcon, linebackers Clint Session and Ramon Humber, offensive tackle Charlie Johnson, center Jeff Saturday and offensive lineman Jacques McClendon."
