Oklahoma landed a huge commitment for its 2017 class Thursday, as 5-star point guard and McDonald’s All-American Trae Young chose the Sooners over Kansas and Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas fans waited anxiously for quite some time as Trae Young pondered his college decision. Would the 5-star point guard choose the perennial national contender Jayhawks? Or would he decide to stay in state?

In the end, Young chose to stay right at home.

Young pledged his commitment to the Sooners on Thursday from his high school, Norman North. He said it was tough to make his final phone calls to Kansas’ Bill Self and Oklahoma State’s Brad Underwood, and that he made his decision a couple of days ago.
