"Michael Crabtree was activated from the physically unable to perform list Tuesday.

If his first practice is any indication, however, the Niners wide receiver is not yet able to perform at anything approximating full speed.

Crabtree, who had surgery on his broken left foot prior to training camp, spent the first 15 minutes of his debut practice jogging through a series of short routes. He then removed his helmet and red jersey and retreated to an adjoining practice field for individual work.

Crabtree later told a group of reporters that he wouldn't be talking, presumably until he completes an entire practice.

"Once I get back on that field, I'm going to be the first person talking to y'all," he said."
